Probably the same Alfred as Alfred James, son of Elias and Eliza of Holne/Buckfastleigh.

Charles EASTERBROOK and Grace SHEPHEARD of East Stonehouse

Sons John and George were both serving on HMS Northumberland in 1881.

George moved to Ireland and in 1911 was a coastguard living in Dublin.

Daniel was a warrent officer in the Royal Navy but the only record I can find of him is William and Jane's marriage certificate.

George EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth of Devonport

George was a Warrant Officer in the Royal Navy. Born in Okehampton, he lived in Devonport until the mid 1840s, and then in Portsea Island, Portsmouth, Hampshire where he died. His son Robert was born in Pembroke Dock, Wales, indicating the family moved from Devonport to Portsmouth via Wales.

Henry was born in Torquay. I have not been able traced him further back than 1891.

In a family account, Henry Joseph was born in Plymouth, but this cannot be confirmed with any official documents and in the 1900 US census he gives his and his parents' place of birth as Scotland.

Mary Ann EASTERBROOK from St Austell

Born in St Austell, the earliest record of Mary Ann in 1871 is a pauper in the Union Workhouse at age 15. She then moves to Devonport where she is recorded as a prostitute in a brothel in East Stonehouse. This seems to be the red light district as all the neighbouring houses have similar occupants. She has a 2 year old daughter with her.

By 1891 she is married to a Private in the Royal Marines, but by 1901 she is a widow living with her married daughter and giving her occupation as Rag Sorter.

Matthew was a Pipemaker and his son Matthew was a Commissioned Boatman for the Coast Guard Service.

Nathaniel was a mariner. Thomas and Sarah lived in Plymouth, south London, and Lancashire.
