Many descendants of James and Jane left the Tiverton area:

• Thomas, tailer and innkeeper, moved to Wellington, Somerset.
• Mary married Henry LYONS and emigrated to Australia.
• William, railway porter, married Mary from Ireland and moved to Willesden.
• Edward emigrated to Australia.
• James, carpenter, moved to Willesden, Middlesex.

Ann married John HOOPER and moved to Alphington (nr Exeter), and then to Dunsford.

Elizabeth married Richard BESLEY and remained in Tiverton.

This family is being researched by Martin.

Alfred is the grandson of James and Jane of Rattery.

John EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth LIDDON of Broad Clyst

Descendants that I can find lived in Broad Clyst except for daughter Mary Anne who was a servant in London in 1881 and grandson John who married Elizabeth STOTT in Lancashire.

This family lived lived in Okehampton and Crediton areas.

Son Henry moved to Poplar, Middlesex where he married Catherine Ann WATTS.

William Henry (aka Harry) moved to Chippenham in Wiltshire.

Alice Harriet married a widower in Exeter.

Son Peter moved to Clerkenwell, London.

John EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth FREY of Tiverton

John was born in Silverton, but lived in Tiverton where his children were born. During the 1850s the family moved to Sheffield, Yorkshire, although dates and places of birth indicate that they didn't all move at the same time, and daughter Jane was already married when they moved (her first two children were born in Tiverton).

Son John may have been the first to move north and he married Isabella Thompson of Sheffield. They both lived in Heely, Sheffield and died in Ecclesall Bierlow.

Solomon EASTERBROOK and Mary BARTLETT of Bradninch

Solomon's children and grandchildren moved to Dawlish.

James EASTERBROOK and Laura SELLICK of Exeter

James was a Cabinet Maker from Dawlish who moved to Exeter and then to London. William John Sellick EASTERBROOK remained in Devon living with his maternal grandparents but moved to London later after marrying. Henry went with his parents to London, and all the other children were born in London.

James is a descedant of John and Joan of Dawlish.

Laura EASTERBROOK and James MARTYR of Exeter

Laura married in Exeter to James Richardson MARTYR of Southwark, Surrey.

Laura is a descendant of John and Joan of Dawlish.

Thomas EASTERBROOK and Emma KNILL of St Thomas Exeter

In 1871 Emma is in Exeter workhouse with the children.

Henry moved to Spreyton (north Dartmoor) and then to Plymouth.

Frederick joined the Royal Navy.

Edmund (b1868) was back in Exeter workhouse in 1901.

William Easterbrook and Hannah HAMMET of Crediton

The only child I have found a family for is Eliza.

This family lived in various villages near Credition: Cadeleigh, Cadbury, Cheriton Fitzpaine.

William, originally from Credition, lived in Exeter until about 1852 when the family moved to Torquay.

William and Mary lived at 23 Paul Street, Exeter.

Walter EASTERBROOK and Eliza TIBBY of Exeter

Frederick was born more than a year before Walter and Eliza married and is recorded as TIBBY at birth so is probably not Walter's son. Only Eliza (recorded as Elizabeth) and the 3 children are together in the 1901 census where Frederick has the EASTERBROOK surname.
