Edward EASTERBROOK and Mary A of Yorkshire

Edward was born in Liverpool and was at Blue Coat Hospital School in 1851. Then there is no trace until 1891 in Nether Hallam, Yorkshire as a married Bricklayer Labourer.

William is son of William EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth of Ashburton.

John EASTERBROOK and Mary HARPER of Barrow, Lancashire

John is the son of James and Jane and moved from Tywrardreath in Cornwall.

Son John and his family emigrated to Kimberley, South Africa in the early 1900s.

Son Joseph emigrated to Michigan, USA in 1900.

Son Thomas emigrated to Michigan, USA in 1900 where he married.

James is the son of James and Jane and moved from Tywrardreath in Cornwall.

As this is the only EASTERBROOK family in this area, there is a high probability that the civil registration entries for EASTERBROOK are all for this family. It is not possible to cross reference dates after the March 1901 census as later censuses are not available yet.

There are BMD index marriage entries for:

• Ernest EASTERBROOK married Kate Pattinson for SepQ 1914. Reference Wigton district vol 10b page 1185. They had daughter Evelyn D 1916.
• James EASTERBROOK married Margaret J Tuke for MarQ 1915. Reference Cockermouth district vol 10b page 1044. (This is probably James b1894 son of Robert and Isabella). They had children Robert H 1915 and John T 1917.
• Note: FreeBMD marriage transcriptions are sparse after 1915. I have not looked at other sources yet.

Daniel EASTERBROOK and Jane HARVEY of New Malton, Yorkshire

Daniel is a grandson of James and Joan of Holne.

The family moved to New Malton, Yorkshire in the late 1850s from Wolverhampton.

George and Richard emigrated to the USA.

Mary married Percy WATERER, a member of the Stock Exchange. James and William were clerks at the Stock Exchange in London.

Henry married Alica NORRIS and emigrated to the USA.

John EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth FREY of Sheffield

The family of John and Elizabeth were from Tiverton, Devon but most moved to Sheffield in the 1850s. Most records for the family give Ecclesall Bierlow which is the registration district for East Sheffield.

Son John seems to be the first to move north where he married Isabella Thompson and later widow Elizabeth ELLIS (neé SMITH).

Jane married in Tiverton before moving north. Eliza, Harriet, and William married after moving to the Sheffield area.

John EASTERBROOK and Isabella THOMPSON

John and Isabella did not have any children but they adopted Isabella's older sister's children, and Henry Rodrick was using EASTERBROOK as his surname by 1881.

After Isabella's death, John married widow Elizabeth ELLIS (neé SMITH).

Henry Rodrick ROEBUCK/EASTERBROOK and Mary Ellen KENYON

Henry Rodrick, born ROEBUCK, was adopted by John EASTERBROOK and Isabella THOMPSON (Isabella was his mother's sister), and used the EASTERBROOK name when he married.

John EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth SMITH

John, recently widowed from Isabella, died only a few years after remarrying.

There are a number of births registered in Ecclesall Bierlow district post the 1901 census that are almost certainly grand-children of William and Harriet. They are:

The last two, having a mother's maiden name of WHITE, are daughters of either John or Harold.

William came from St Austell in Cornwall.

Son John went to the USA and then to Australia.

John was a mariner and does not appear on any censues. In the 1870s the family moved from Dartmouth, Devon.

Ebenezer is the son of John and Margaret of Plymouth and moved from Plymouth to Hull in about 1874.

Thomas EASTERBROOK and Ann NORTHY of Widnes originally from St Blazey

Thomas is a son of William and Sarah of St Blazey.

Selina EASTERBROOK (MARTYN) from Cornwall

Richard and Selina from St Columb Minor in Cornwall emigrate to Pennsylvania soon after their marriage. Their children are born there but they return to Cornwall during the American Civil War in the early 1860s. Selina is widowed by 1871 and moved to Yorkshire. Her daughter marries an artist in Keightley in 1872 and Selina and her children are in Bingley in 1881.

Richard is probably related to William of Pennsylvania (family 115).
