Gilbert EASTERBROOK and Margaret TAYLOR of the Isle of Wight

Gilbert and Margaret were married on the Isle of Wight but had moved to Uxbridge, Middlesex by the time Phyllis was born.

William emigrated to Australia and son Gilbert to New Zealand.

Phyllis Margaret married Thomas Edwin EASTERBROOK who was possibly a cousin.

George EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth of Portsea Island

George, a Warrant Officer in the Royal Navy, moved from Devonport (Plymouth) to Portsea Island, Portsmouth with his family. Most of his descendants remained in the Portsmouth area except for:

• George Edmund's children were born in Dublin and Plymouth.
• John Henry moved to St Pancras, Middlesex and then to Catfield, Norfolk.

John EASTERBROOK, Colour Sergeant Royal Engineers

John was born in Bermuda, his eldest children were born in Gibraltar before the family moved to Portsea.

Son Robert joined the 5th Dragoon Guards and was stationed in Lancashire during the 1880s before moving to Aldershot by 1891.

Son Malcolm was a soldier in the Royal Engineers in Southampton in 1881 and Folkstone in 1891.

Nicholas EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth of Portsmouth

Son Nicholas was born in Portsmouth.

William EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth PRICE of Portsmouth

William was born in Pennsylvania, but served in the Royal Navy in Bermuda and then Hampshire.

The older children were born in Hampshire, mostly Portsmouth. The family then moved to Willesdon, Middlesex where the two youngest were born.

EASTERBROOK of Portswood, Southampton

John was a Manager to a Lumber Merchant. He moved to Southampton in the late 1880s with daughter Grace. His son William's daughter Helena was with them in 1891 and his son Lewis McIver in 1901. Lewis McIver later married in Southampton.

By the early 20th century the families using Werrey as a middle name had incorporated it into their surname resulting in WERREY-EASTERBROOK.
