Charles McWHINNEY is believed to have come from Scotland. His son Alexander had moved to Belfast by the time of his marriage to Bridget CROUGHAN.

Alexander's sons Charles and Joseph both died young and later sons were given the same names.

Joseph, Bridget and their children died in the Blitz in Belfast. The family believe there was an older daughter who was out at a dance and survived, but I do not have any other details.
