EASTERBROOK from Leitrim, Ireland

Jane, William, and Thomas are siblings from Leitrim. In 1881 William and Thomas are barmen working in the Half Moon and 7 Stars public house in St George Street in the East End of London. Jane's husband Richard HARRIS is the landlord.

Jane dies in 1886 and Richard HARRIS marries Kathleen Eliza CHALLENER. When Richard dies in 1896, Kathleen marries Thomas and they now run the Half Moon, assisted by his nieces Ann Easterbrook (parents not determined) and Mary Reily (daughter of Ellen Jane) both from Leitrim.

Henry EASTERBROOK and Catherine WATTS of Poplar

Henry is son of John and Sarah of Shobrooke and moved to Poplar where he married Catherine WATTS of Stoke Albany, Northamptonshire.

Son Henry, a grocer, moved to North London and spent a few years in Watford.

Thomas Henry used his adopted surname until he married, although all the records spell it EASTERBROOK. He lived with Kathleen for many years before marrying and in the 1911 census Thomas, Kathleen (as Kate) and Caroline all use the EASTERBROOK surname and are recorded as married for 13 years.

Julia Louisa's daughter Julia was registered as EASTABROOK in 1916, and then re-registered as PUTNAM in 1921. It is not clear if she is Ernest's daughter and they didn't marry until later due to the war, or if she is illegitimate and met and married Ernest after the war.

John enlisted in 1895 to the Border Regiment of Infantry, but deserted after a week. John gave his father and siblings on his Short Service Attestation form in 1895, but there are no other records of John or his family. The family address in 1895 was 14 Victoria Dock Rd, Canning Town.
