Ambrose EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth of St Austell and St Blazey

A family of Copper Miners. Ambrose and Elizabeth's children were all born in St Blazey, but later generations moved to the adjacent parish of St Austell.

William is recorded as Henry on his marriage certificate. Elizabeth gives her status as Widow, but there is no evidence of an earlier marriage and she has two children who use her maiden name.

Ann EASTERBROOK and son Francis Tiddy of Kea

Ann is an unmarried mother in Kea in the 1861 census. I cannot find any other trace of either mother or son.

James EASTERBROOK and Jane LEE of Tywrardreath

This was a family of miners.

Son John moved to Barrow in Lancashire.

Son James moved to Aspatria in Cumberland

Elias EASTERBROOK (farmer) and Ann BARTER originally from Holne, Devon

Elias is the grandson of James EASTERBROOK and Joan TOLCHARD of Holne and son of Elias EASTERBROOK and Joan STRANGER of Holne.

John SNELL and Ann moved from Holne to St Ive, Cornwall, and then Menheniot, Cornwall. Ann is joined by her (widowed) mother by 1881 and her brother John by 1891. It is believed that Elias also moved to Cornwall with his family but this is not supported by any records and his death is recorded in Newton Abbot in Devon.

John EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth SOLOMON of St Blazey

This family appear first in the 1901 census apart from Samuel J who is with his maternal grandparents in 1881. John is probably from one of the other St Blazey or St Austell families but I cannot find any documents that make the connection.

Recorded in the 1841 and 1861 censuses with no other family. No other information.

John EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth of St Mewan (nr St Austell)

Recorded in the 1861 to 1881 censuses with no other family. In 1851 there is a John Brooks in St Mewan with a wife Elizabeth born in St Stephens who I cannot find in 1861 or later. There is a John Brook in 1841 in St Mewan which matches the 1851 John. These are possibly the same person, but why did he change from Brooks to Easterbrook?

John EASTERBROOK and Maria KEYS of St Austell

Married in 1836 in West Briton, St Austell. I believe Maria is the sister of Jane KEYS who married Thomas ROGERS.

Mary Ann EASTERBROOK from St Austell

The earliest record for Mary Ann is the 1871 census where she is a Pauper age 15 in the St Austell Union Workhouse. Her occupation is Kitchenmaid Domestic Servant. She is next found in East Stonehouse, Devonport (Plymouth).

Nicholas EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth PENROSE of Penzance

I have traced families for Nicholas who was a baker, John, James who was a blacksmith, and Samuel who was a baker and carpenter.

There are 3 families, another in Cornwall - Esther Penrose - and one in South Africa - Harry Penrose - using the name Penrose, suggesting there is a link somewhere that I have not yet discovered.

Richard EASTERBROOK and Selina MARTYN of St Columb Minor

Richard and Selina emigrate to Pennsylvania soon after their marriage. Their children are born there but they return to Cornwall during the American Civil War in the early 1860s. Selina is widowed by 1871 and moves to Yorkshire.

Richard is probably related to William of Pennsylvania (family 115).

Elizabeth is recorded as a widow in the 1851 census, but has a son Thomas age 8 in the 1861 census in Plymouth.
