The earliest I can trace my family back is to Elias EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth CLOGG living in Holne, on the edge of Dartmoor. All their children were born in Holne, but I can only find later records for my direct ancestor, Thomas.
Thomas EASTERBROOK was born in Holne, married Elizabeth PULLING in Dittisham, near Dartmouth and Torquay, lived in Crabtree, parish of Egg Buckland, near Plymouth in the early 1820s. The next record shows him and Elizabeth living in Clerkenwell, Middlesex in 1841. He died in Lewisham in 1867.
Son John Pulling, born in Crabtree, was recorded with his parents in Clerkenwell in 1841 but died in the Torquay area in 1849.
Son Thomas gives his place of birth in all censuses as Crabtree, but there is no record of his birth there. This suggests he spent his childhood there (as suggested by his younger brother John born there when Thomas was about 5), but was actually born elsewhere. He married Ann Sophia ELLIOT in January 1841 in St James, Clerkenwell.

Thomas EASTERBROOK was married in 1841 in Clerkenwell Parish Church to Ann Sophia ELLIOT, Thomas was about 21 and Ann only about 16. They lived in Clerkenwell until the late 1840s, then to Salisbury Street, St Pancras until the early 1850s, after which they moved to 20 Charlotte Street, Charlton (the street no longer exists). Ten years' later they moved to 1 Osborn Terrace, Eltham (Lewisham). This area was to be the home for the family for the next 120 years as many of their descendants lived in the area, often within a few streets of Osborn Terrace. Both Osborn Terrace and Eagle Terrace were home to several generations.
Thomas's occupation was whitesmith. The trade was a family one at this time with most of Thomas's sons giving their occupation as whitesmith at at least some point during their life.
Last time I counted, I had identified 10 children and 33 grandchildren.

Thomas John EASTERBROOK married Charlotte Sarah DIPLOCK (born in Woolwich) in late 1862. By 1881 they were living at 39 Loam Pit Value, Lewisham, which seems to be the address of the family business: Thomas was a whitesmith like his father.
Note: I have been unable to trace Charlotte DIPLOCK's family, and John Henry DIPLOCK's only to his father John, born 1857 In Greenwich, so am unable to establish any relationship, or lack of, between them.
Albert David was killed during the Great War. He is honoured on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
Harry Diplock emigrated to Australia

Daughter Annie had an illigitimate son Bertie born in the Lewisham workhouse. Annie and Bertie are recorded living with Annie's father Thomas in the 1881 census. Annie emigrated to Australia as an assisted migrant on the "Florida" in 1885 at age 23. There is no mention of Bertie on that journey. She married Vernon BRANWHITE in 1894 and there is records for a Bertram BRANWHITE that may be Annie's son.

After Jane died, Elias William married Margaret McGOWAN, a roman catholic, and had had a son, Francis, and two sets of twin girls, Margaret Mary and Mary Elizabeth (b1906) and Dorothy Mary and Violet Mary (b1910).
Francis married Anastasia MORRISON from county Cork Ireland and continued the Roman Catholic tradition. Margaret Mary could not have children due to a childhood illness, but with her second husband Bertie CARTER they adopted Dorothy Mary's illigitimate son. Mary Elizabeth married a divorcee, Harry Rossiter COPPINGER many years her senior.
After Elias died, Margaret remarried to Charlie EASTON and had another son, Charlie.
