Joseph EASTERBROOK and Mary of Exbourne and Belstone

Joseph and Mary lived in Exbourne until 1798 and then in Belstone.

Son George EASTERBROOK moved to Devonport, and then to Portsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Son Henry was an inmate of the workhouse in Stoke Dameral in 1841 and 1851 (pauper).

Joseph EASTERBROOK and Susanna of Sampford Courtenay

Son John served in the Royal Navy and was in Vera Cruz in 1861 and Hong Kong in 1871.

James EASTERBROOK and Mary PEARSE of Milton Abbot

After moving from Holne, this family remained in the Milton Abbot and Tavistock area with the exception of Mary Ann, who married Henry CHOWEN from Lewtrenchard and moved to Peckham, London, via South Africa where their second child, Henry Llwellyn was born in 1890.

This family lived lived in Okehampton and Crediton areas.

Son Henry moved to Poplar, Middlesex where he married Catherine Ann WATTS.

John EASTERBROOK and Lydia BROCK of Throwley (Throwleigh)

John could be the brother of George as both were born in Samford Courtney and John's son George was lodging with George and Jane in 1851.

Joseph EASTERBROOK and Mary of Broadwood Kelly

Son John lived in the nearby village of Sampford Courtney, and his son Alfred moved to Barnstaple.

Henry EASTERBROOK and Lucy Ann STILE from Dawlish

Henry EASTERBROOK married widow Lucy Ann in Dawlish. In 1871 Henry and Lucy are living together with the children from Lucy's previous marriage and from her marriage to Henry, but in 1881 and 1891 they are living apart in South Zeal and Chagford, with Lucy giving her status as wife in 1881 and head of household in 1891. In 1901 she is recorded as a widow.

Henry is the son of John EASTERBROOK and Frances LUCAS of Dawlish.

William EASTERBROOK and Martha GOSLING of Whitchurch

Son John lived in Whitchurch and then Tavistock.

Son Robert lived in Whitchurch.

Son Charles moved to East Stonehouse, Plymouth.

Charles was a Tailer and remained in Tavistock.

Elizabeth Ann married George HICKS, a Coast-Guard Boatsman, and were in Kent in 1891 and Suffolk in 1901.

Richard was a Tailer's Cutter and moved to Plymouth.

Barbara married John TOWELL, a General Labourer. They were visiting Barbara's brother Edward James in Rodbourne Cheney, Wiltshire, in 1901.

Edward was a grocer and shopkeeper and moved to Rodbourne Cheney (near Swindon) in Wiltshire.

Martha Mary (recorded in 1891 and 1901 as just Mary) married Alfred GARLAND, a Grocer's Storeman, and remained in Tavistock.

Martha Jane (recorded in 1891 and 1901 as just Martha) was an unmarried servant in Plymouth in 1901.

William and Rebecca moved to Scotland between 1864 and 1869.

Martha EASTERBROOK

Martha (born 1837) was a domestic servant. She was a patient in Devon and Exeter Hosptial in 1891 and an Inmate in Exeter Union Workhouse in 1901.

Elizabeth Ann EASTERBROOK

Elizabeth (born 1851) was a dressmaker. She lived with her widowed mother until the mid 1880s, then with her widowed sister Jane in Madge Hill, Tavistock.

Robert EASTERBROOK and Jane

Son Charles moved to Lydford. The census records for Charles and Charlotte's children are ambigious: Charles Stanley (2) and Russell (7) only appear in 1891, whereas Frederick C (17) and Richard (12) only appear in 1901. The ages suggest they may be the same sons recorded with different names.

Thomas EASTERBROOK and Mary DAWE from Sourton

The family moved from Sourton to Tavistock about 1840.

Robert married Elizabeth RICH who had a base child William. After marrying his second wife Robert moved to Plymouth.

Thomas EASTERBROOK and Sarah WESTLAKE from Hatherleigh

Thomas and Sarah were from Hatherleigh but their children were mostly baptised in Exbourne. Thomas and most of his sons were thatchers.

Walter EASTERBROOK

Son Walter married Ann Ballamy with 2 known children baptised together suggesting they were twins. In 1841 he is living with Dinah Herd and her son Ezekiel. In 1851 and later records Ezekiel takes Walter's surname and is recorded as his son. Ezekiel's baptism is recorded with "s/o Dinah HURD, Married Woman. Husband absent, supposed in America above three years".

John is the son of Nicholas and Susanna of Holne.

Susanna and John were unmarried and still living with their parents in 1901 on the family farm.

Albert moved to Liskeard where he married but had no children.

I have not yet traced the other childen to 1901.

George is the son of Nicholas and Susanna of Holne.
